At a gathering in a downtown library in Council Bluffs, Jenifer Bowen warned that efforts to legalize assisted suicide in Iowa are just the beginning of a broader push toward euthanasia.
“Where they’re starting (with legislation) is not where it’s going to end,” Bowen cautioned the small audience, emphasizing that the movement for assisted suicide is part of a larger agenda targeting society’s most vulnerable.
She pointed to the well-funded efforts of groups like Compassion & Choices, which she says are determined to expand euthanasia far beyond those with terminal illnesses. “There’s definitely a big push,” Bowen stated, “a big, well-funded, well-oiled machine of Compassion & Choices and other agendas who are determined to kill a lot more people in Iowa.”
Bowen urged pro-life advocates to stay vigilant and fight against laws that could pressure the elderly, disabled, and sick into choosing death over life.
