Planned Parenthood Closure on East Army Post Road: What It Means for Abortion Access in Iowa

First, it cannot be overstated how heavy my heart is as I write this. I do not take any pleasure in sharing this. Honestly, I wish I didn’t have to say anything at all! 💔

But – this is IMPERATIVE! A few vital points MUST be said.

👉🏼 News has broken that what HAS BEEN PPNCS’* only chemical and surgical abortion site in Central Iowa has CLOSED its doors for good! Finally!

Fabulous, life-saving news. Yes?

🛑 Not so fast! Please hear me out! 🛑

I previously shared that PPNCS* first reported this was in their plans back in June 2023 and reiterated it in their January 30, 2024, press release.

GREAT NEWS, right? Certainly. If unborn babies are spared from abortion for even 1 day in an abortion facility, that is noteworthy and cause for celebration.

🚨 However! I humbly suggest that those celebrating, slapping backs, and taking victory laps are, at best, short-sighted! 🚨

Understanding what PPNCS* has made clear, in their own words, both in June 2023 and again in January 2024, makes it crystal clear: THIS IS NOT actually about Iowa’s abortion chain SHRINKING again!

No!

It IS about them sharpening their knives (literally AND proverbially 😡💔) to deliberately EXPAND abortions in Central Iowa!

Ruth Richardson, CEO, bluntly declared on January 30, 2024, that by consolidating their THREE current sites into ONE here in Des Moines and the surrounding areas, they will STILL:

“EXPAND ABORTION ACCESS” and GROW “the SIZE of many of their remaining sites” (e.g. Omaha).

Because they will:

“EXPAND their schedule” and “INCREASE abortion appointments from THREE days to FOUR days every week.”

Sure – they are moving from THREE locations to just ONE abortion facility, BUT irrefutably, they intend to process DOZENS AND DOZENS MORE ABORTIONS every day, every week, every month, every year!

It elaborates much further on the “WHY” I believe that it is NO LONGER a sign of the organization’s imminent collapse when they >choose< to close facilities. That post goes much deeper into what Iowa is REALLY UP AGAINST, particularly in the Des Moines and Omaha metros.

This site’s “closure” will inevitably lead to even greater, irrevocably deadly repercussions here in our abortion sanctuary state.**

Why?

Because women from ALL OVER the Midwest have ALREADY been driving or flying here to terminate their yet-to-be-born sons and daughters!

ALL THE MORE women now – with “greater access” and “greater appointment times!”

Without question, unborn children have been brutally dying – by the DOZENS AND DOZENS – week in and week out here.

So what will it look like in this abortion destination state** when all their changes are fully implemented and abortion days have INCREASED each week?

Being open even just one extra day a week – translates into another DOZEN OR MORE intentionally murdered babies! Just in a SINGLE DAY!

How is this not HORRIFYING news?

I’m sorry, not sorry, but 23,000+ and counting DEAD, UNBORN BABIES – ALREADY – JUST in Iowa and JUST since 2018 IS. NOT. WINNING!***

Nor does it deserve any celebratory recognition!

What it most clearly DOES merit is a grieving spirit of profound regret, repentance, and remorse, intensive and deep soul-searching, along with an intensified desire to seriously re-commit and double-down with sober-minded resolve – until abortion really is no more – and EVERY human life, born and unborn, is fully protected to the fullest extent of the law.

• Iowa became part of the then-new merger, Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS) in 2018, where it remains today.

This affiliate represents Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North, and South Dakota.

**What?! Iowa has become an abortion destination? It is now an abortion sanctuary state?

How is that even possible?!

Sadly, it IS true! Following the US Supreme Court’s ruling to dismantle Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Iowa became an abortion destination state – a bona fide abortion destination, where women from all over the Midwest (at least) are traveling here – for the sole purpose of ending the lives of their unborn babies!

Women from Texas, Kansas, Louisiana, North and South Dakota – and many more states – are being driven or even flown here, often at no personal expense, some by coordinating with PPNCS’ “abortion navigators,” and others are even coming in by private plane, often flown by ex-military, volunteer pilots!

*As anyone would naturally expect, Iowa’s abortion rates continue to GROW and NOT shrink, thanks to living in an abortion sanctuary state.

💔 Tragically 👉🏼 ONE-DOZEN unborn children 👈🏼 at a minimum, continue to be legally slaughtered in the womb here – EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Last month I showed the continuing downward spiral of physical destruction and devastation that unborn children and their mothers continue to face as Iowa has devolved into a thriving, growing abortion destination state.**

Analyzing key details from Iowa’s most recent annual abortion rates from the Health and Human Resources (HHS) 2022 “vital statistics” report, I spotlighted a few details of the abortion industry’s reported murderous activities.

These black-and-white statistics undeniably indicate that Iowa’s abortion rates are still rising. Bearing these facts in mind, it is quite likely that the staggering number of unborn children murdered in the womb in this state alone will tragically rise to an approximate 26,387 unborn babies, who will have lost their lives in an abortion by the end of 2024!

👆🏼 JUST in Iowa! And JUST spanning 2018-2024!

This is a conservative prediction of how many unborn babies will be deliberately, callously murdered in Iowa by December 2024, should abortion remain “LEGAL,” through the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, for virtually any and all reasons.

This is quite likely to remain our grotesque and sobering reality should the state politicians’ second attempt at fetal heartbeat legislation in a slapdash, “special” legislative session in July 2023, yet again, not pass muster with the Iowa court, should they ever decide to dust off the cobwebs and make a ruling.

It’s not as if anyone’s life hangs in the balance.

So, to summarize:

Iowa 👉🏼 for many, many DECADES allowed “abortions through all 9 months” 👉🏼 but eventually and with hard-fought determination became “one of the most pro-life states in under 2 years,” per “Live Action,” particularly after banning abortions beyond 20 weeks and enacting several other pro-life laws in 2017 💪🏼👏🏼 only to 👉🏼 tragically spiral, devolving into its current abortion sanctuary status, barely 4 years later!

Which is where we find ourselves. Well, all of those who have survived their mothers’ wombs, that is. 😪💔🙏🏼
